I'm falling for you,skateboarding!
I have been illustrating skaters for four years now. I do not skate but I have spent a lot of time with skaters and skate-illustrators.
I have seen plenty of skate videos and movies and I have read many books, magazines and interviews on the topic.
All these made me fall in love with the skate culture and all the people that are part of it.
Once I fell in love I decided to dedicate my second project to the skate culture. (I have already finished my first project on the topic. It is called "Skateches". Find out more about it here: https://issuu.com/mihaelakaradjova/docs/skateches_mag_01 )
This second project is slightly different – skateboarding tricks and fails. It goes by the name of "Falling for you, Skateboarding! " You catch the word play?
The idea behind the project is to show all the sacrifices one has to make sometimes in the name of love for skateboarding.
Very often you do not succeed on the first try. A trick takes a lot of time to master – you fall and you get up, then you try again, you fall again, you start freaking out, again and again and at some point you finally make it. You realize that what gives you
the strength to keep trying is your love for skateboarding. And actually LOVE is your biggest award and achievement.
